Hey Y’all…

I’m Lizzie.

FULL SPECTRUM PREGNANCY, LABOR, BIRTH, AND POSTPARTUM DOULA,

I believe that every woman deserves to feel loved, supported, and cared for during her pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey. I know choosing who to support you during this intimate and life changing time is a deeply personal decision. My services include monthly meetups, prenatal and postpartum visits, and continuous support through labor. By getting to know each other through these visits and meetups, my hope is that you will feel comfortable and trust that I will be there for you when you need me most.
I was born in the Pacific Northwest but I have lived in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. I love the outdoors and being immersed in nature. The views in the Pacific Northwest cannot be beat. My husband and I met in Washington and a few years after we moved back to the South to be closer to family. We welcomed our son into the world at home in the care of midwives and doulas. Labor was not quite what I expected and I know I would not have been able to make it through without all the support and love I received. I love to sing, craft, hike, read, listen to music, eat food, and talk about all things healthy, hippie, and holistic.

As a young child I remember exploring different careers and while being a singer was always a dream of mine I was also interested in being a neonatal nurse; it wasn't until my sister became pregnant with her first child that my journey into the birthing world began.

In my late 20's I considered becoming a midwife but I was enrolled in College and I was close to finishing my degree. The program I had considered for midwifery training required students to take a doula course. With my sister being pregnant this was a prime opportunity to take a peak into the world of birth. So, I took my first doula course through Dona at Bastyr University in Washington State. I completed my training and I booked a flight to Texas to be with my sister for the birth of her first child.

As you probably know the timing of labor cannot be predicted and I unfortunately missed the birth by a few days. I was sad to have missed the opportunity to support her, but I was glad to be able to spend weeks loving and caring for her and her baby postpartum. When she became pregnant again I made sure to buy my ticket with plenty of wiggle room; I was not going to miss this birth! Her daughters birth was the first birth I witnessed, and it was a beautiful and intimate experience. I felt so honored to be a part of such a life changing experience with someone I love dearly. I was again honored to be her doula for her third child and fourth child! Every labor, including my own has been different, life changing, and beautiful to behold. The surrender to the force that gives life is truly amazing!
